Earlier this year Yeti released their “soft” cooler the Hopper, but there is nothing soft about it. Our Day 10 review of Christmas brings the most recognized name in coolers, Yeti, featuring yet another innovative product. Kayak & SUP anglers alike always enjoy quality when it comes to accessories, and Yeti provides exactly that, even more so with their soft-sided cooler, the Hopper.
We recently got these in at Broxson Outdoors in Navarre FL. I traditionally use a soft cooler when fishing just because they are easy to store and maneuver around in the yak. The Hopper is at the top of my Christmas list. Though I haven’t gotten a chance to take it offshore yet. I have got to mess and drool all over it at the shop. The first thing I noticed is how tough it is. Constructed from the same material that’s used in hazmat suits and whitewater rafts, the hopper is tough as hell. It’s 22.5″ long, 12″ wide and 16.5 inches tall and boasts a 6.5 gallon capacity. The hydrolok zipper is RF welded for a leakproof seal. The hopper has 6 reinforced D-ring tie down points that make securing it to the yak easy and versatile. The coldcell insulation on the sides and bottoms prevents cold loss. It also has a hitchpoint grid system to mount accessories such as the side kick. Storage is everything in a yak so the Hopper’s size and flexibility makes it ideal for storing it pretty much anywhere. At $299 It’s pricey but like all Yetis, it’s build for whatever you can throw at it (or in it) and is backed with a 3-year warranty.
