Recently Yak Outlaws editors, Tony & Buddy, ventured south to Orlando, Florida to attend the Surf Expo 2014 convention to check out some of the latest in the industry for SUP & kayak angling.  They attended Surf Expo over a two day span and there’s a ton of product available for those looking to enter the sport of SUP angling.

Here, we’ll give an overview of the array of products available from some of the biggest and not so well known manufacturers in SUP & kayak fishing and accessories from Surf Expo.  There’s many SUP manufacturers available that many of us simply did not know about as well as some of the more well known manufacturers upping their game with improvements in the SUP angling arena.  BOTE will have an all new series of SUP’s designed with the angler in mind, and Live Watersports is making a huge name for itself with their “L2Fish” angling SUP by debuting a new color design at Surf Expo.  Pau Hana Surf Supply and BIC Sport also had some fishing oriented SUP’s available to the angler.

Many manufacturers in the area of accessories are designing accessories to make your life on the water SUP angling much more enjoyable and many products were on display at Surf Expo .  DryCase has some great new accessories including a Bluetooth speaker so you can jam to your favorite tunes while paddling out to your favorite fishing spot.  SurfStow has some great products including the SUPGLO & YAKGLO lights to make fishing at night easier.  AquaGlide Paddlesports also had some fishing specific inflatables and accessories for the SUP and kayak angler.  MTI Adventurewear also redesigned some of their PFD’s, and also made major changes with the lady angler definitely in mind, and Hyde Sportswear introduced a new style of PFD offering a more comfortable life jacket for SUP and kayak anglers.  DriftPac also had some vest packs with hydration systems to fit every angler from the fly fisherman to the avid cameraman.  GoPro also introduced a new camera accessory giving the angler a new way to film their next big catch at Surf Expo. DaswhaSUP is a new SUP fishing accessory company under the already well known and established kayak accessory gurus at YakAttack.

There were many new and soon to be well known paddle makers in attendance at Surf Expo as well.  Bending Branches/Aquabound introduced to new extending shaft for kayak anglers, and showed off some of their more popular SUP paddles at very reasonable price ranges.  Sawyer Paddles had some amazing looking paddles, as well as, BIC Sport which felt light as a feather when held in your hand, virtually making paddling those long distances a breeze.  King Paddles also showed some great looking paddles.

Apparel was definitely well represented at Surf Expo as well with a large selection from various manufacturers.  Bimini Bay Outfitters, Avid Sportswear, True Flies, and Salt Life were but a few of the many new styles and designs coming soon for SUP and kayak anglers to drool over.  New styles and new  designs were everywhere and many had our editors making a “wish list” for apparel to wear on their next fishing trips.  Howler Bros. also had some great new fishing shirts that are perfect for the water or a night out, including some amazing fishing pants. Salt Life also introduced some new styles and colors to their already amazing line of optics as well. Zhik USA, Speedo, Sperry Top-Sider, and Body Glove all had some great looking new shoes to make life on the water stylish and comfortable.

There were also kayaks on display at Surf Expo as BIC Sport showed their line of affordable kayaks, as well as Coastal Kayaks with some see through hulls to make fishing a little more unique.  Kaku Kayaks and SUP’s were also in attendance with a new line of their Wahoo series of kayaks, and some great looking SUP’s for the angler.

There was definitely a great amount of new gear coming soon for the kayak and SUP angler at Surf Expo, and over the next two weeks, we’ll go deeper in detail at what you can expect to hit stores soon.
