Ardent is one of the fastest and most progressive Rod and Reel manufactures in the world. From their world class designs, to their use of fantastic materials, to the superb quality that is put into every item they produce, to Ardent’s 3 Year Warranty, this is just a handful of items that is helping Ardent grab the attention of many anglers across the nation. If you have not tried any of the Ardent rods or reels I highly recommend that you get one into your hands as quickly as possible, you will not be disappointed.

Ardent’s base camp is situated in Missouri with operation in the St. Louis and Macon areas, and all of the design, engineering, quality, marketing, and sales being done right here in the good ole USA. Every tackle item we produce is the result of Professional Angling/Pro Staff input with the objective of ultimate performance at the lowest consumer price. Ardent has numerous professional anglers fishing our tackle at all levels on the pro tours in addition to thousands of very satisfied amateur anglers as well. As of recent Ardent is gaining quite the following in the kayak fishing world, and are now expanding their phenomenal Pro Staff to reach all areas of the fishing arena.

The two rods that I use to help me haul in the fish are the Ardent Edge and the Ardent Denny Brauer, both of these are Spinning rods. Ardent uses IM8 Graphite construction featuring Fuji Aluminum Oxide Line Guides. The Edge really help provide you with an “edge” not only over the competition, but also the fish. Designed to excel at a wide range of finesse applications, the Ardent Edge Series Spinning Rods deliver excellent sensitivity and power. The high-grade 36-million modulus Toray Carbon blanks are super lightweight, and they have been computer designed to help deliver the perfect action and balance. The blanks also feature an exclusive cloth wrap for unprecedented strength. Durable micro guides help reduce weight while increasing casting distance and accuracy, and the high sensitivity tips help increase sensitivity even further. One of my favorite features of this world-class rod is the Lightweight Comfort Touch reel seats. They provide direct access to the rod blank for increased sensitivity transfer, and premium molded split grip handles deliver all day comfort. Theses rods come in 7’ Med Action and a 7’2” Med Heavy Action and I can say from personal experience you cannot go wrong with either one.

The Ardent Denny Brauer rods were design by, you guessed it Denny himself. Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Famer and Bassmaster Classic winner Denny Brauer brings both his passion and principles to the Denny Brauer Pro Series line of Rods. Denny Brauer Pro Series Rods are constructed from IM8 graphite and feature a healthy mix of light to heavy actions for every angler, along with aluminum oxide line guides. Did I mention how incredibly beautiful these rods are with their bright blue and black carbon fiber, and cork split handle, this one will definitely grab the attention of other anglers. Backed up by a superb back bone and fast action tip, this is one that is always on standby for me.

The Ardent reels that I have matched up to my trusty “battle axes” are the C-Force and the Finesse, and both reels can hold their own under any amount of stress you or the fish can throw at them. On both of my Ardent Edge rods I am running the CF20BA C-Force with a whooping 6:0:1 gear ratio! The reasons I chose this reel is for its mighty punch in such a small package. The CF20BA size fits my hand perfectly, almost like it was molded to my hands, and this helps make me one with my rod and reel setup. With the blazing 6:0:1 ratio you can haul those elusive fish back to the kayak very quickly and effectively, with each turn of the reel you are taking up 32 inches of line. It’s waterproof, multi-stack carbon fiber drag also delivers smooth, long lasting performance, and is specifically designed to slow down big fish hooked on light lines. The two-piece aluminum and carbon fiber handle delivers maximum winding leverage, while also helping to reduce weight, and the high-strength; heavy gauge air bail is built extra durable for long lasting functioning. At $99.00 you are going to be very hard pressed to find another reel in this price point that can go tick-for-tat with this beast.

Key features of the C-Force:

  • All reinforced Carbon Fiber frame
  • All reinforced Carbon Fiber rotor
  • Two-Piece Aluminum & Carbon Fiber tube handle
  • Cold forged 6061 T6 Aluminum spool with braid band
  • High-Strength heavy gauge air bail
  • Waterproof / Multi-stack Carbon Fiber drag washers
  • Backed by the Industries only 3 Year Warranty

The second choice in my armory is the Ardent Finesse mated up to my Ardent Denny Bauer Spinning rod. My choice for the VC20BB Finesse again on the smaller size, simply because I like the feel my setup like I mentioned before. The Ardent Finesse Spinning Reel delivers smooth, reliable performance for a reasonable price, ($69.00). Lightweight but tough, the Finesse is constructed from quality materials and delivers 13lb of max drag. Featuring an eight bearing system (7+1), it also dishes out a 6.0:1 gear ratio that picks up 32-inches of line per crank.  The 6061-T6 double anodized spool is also equipped with a Braid Band to allow you to tie braid to the spool without line slippage. A work horse of a reel available at a great price, the Ardent Finesse Spinning Reel is a great choice for a range of finesse applications. I primarily use this reel in ICW and saltwater creeks of the southeast, and it has yet to fail me! At this price, the Finesse is a steal and a must-have for any spinning angler.

Key features of the Finesse:

  • All reinforced Carbon Fiber drag system
  • 8.8oz, extremely light weight
  • 13lbs max drag
  • Cold forged 6061 T6 Aluminum spool with braid band
  • Backed by the Industries only 3 Year Warranty

Packed full of technology, a 3 year warranty, and the use of high grade/top notch materials is just a few things that helps Ardent stand out from the rest of the completion. I highly suggest if you have not given these products a look that you take a few minutes to do so, you will not be disappointed. If you see me out on the water I will be more than happy to let you run my Ardent setup. Let Ardent help you Rule the Water!
