The ICAST 2018 show definitely did not disappoint when it came to new fishing reels. Shimano went all out with a new low profile “smart” baitcaster reel, and many other companies had great new products to show off at this year’s show.On the first day of the show we attended the media event from Shimano Fishing, and immediately fell in love with their new products. Many other new fishing reel companies had us drooling as the show went on with their new products as well. Here’s just a few of the new fishing reels that you will see on the shelves of your favorite sporting goods store soon.

Shimano’s new Digital Control braking system utilizes a microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1,000 times every second and apply the perfect amount of brake to prevent backlash and maximize distance. Avenger Spinning Reel
The Okuma Avenger Spinning Reels are the longest standing family of reels in the Okuma line up. The new Avenger series for 2019 will be the fourth generation in the historical series.
The key new feature of the 2019 Avenger series is the addition of the CFR technology. The CFR, or Cyclonic Flow Rotor creates a “cyclonic” airflow which significantly increases air flow through the rotor creating a faster drying time if the reel should become wet, minimizing corrosion possibilities throughout the reel.
The Okuma Helios SX Baitcast Reel is the latest addition to the deep lineup of smooth running, long casting Helios low-profile baitcast reels that anglers have come to enjoy. For 2019, Okuma has brought forward the Helios SX, with a sleek new look and revamped internal functions to keep you on the water longer.
The Helios SX Baitcast reel was designed with the serious bass angler in mind. The revamped internal 12-point adjustable velocity control system will keep you dialed in and backlash free. The new friction free disengaging spool shaft system allows for longer casting.
Aero Reels feature an ultra strong super light weight carbon body. One-way anti-reverse system with 9 + 1 double-shielded stainless ball bearings.
