This week many suffered at the tragic devastation of Hurricane Harvey as it pummeled the Texas Gulf coast area. While a hurricane is itself extremely dangerous, the constant rain and flooding has left many homeless.
Confluence Outdoor coordinated with Houston, Texas authorities on Tuesday to provide Harris County with much needed rescue boats. The company is overnighting a semi-truck load of premium, stable, high-capacity Wilderness Systems and Perception kayaks ideal for transporting supplies and supporting the rescue of people and animals.
Confluence is also supplying premium paddles and life preservers (PFDs) for both adults and children to directly support ongoing flood rescue efforts in the Houston area. The rescue gear will arrive Thursday morning.
Harris County Precinct One and the Houston Police Department will use the boats for high-water rescue. Confluence will continue to work with the Houston Police Department to monitor and further respond to the region’s ongoing needs for high-water rescue boats. They are encouraging all customers who want to support relief efforts to donate directly to the United Way of Greater Houston.
“Our hearts are with the people of Houston. As a company, we have members of our team, retail partners and family in the area,” said Rich Krause, CEO of Confluence Outdoor.
Confluence Outdoor is donating the following in their relief efforts:
80 kayaks: 60 tandems and 20 solos

In a time when there are many who are struggling with loss of personal property, homes, and even loss of life, it is refreshing to see so many come together to support our fellow Americans. Many other companies have joined in to support those in need with raising money and awareness. Platypus Fishing lines have vowed to donate 100% of their online sales to the American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund between now and October 1st. Howler Bros developed a special “Howler for Harvey” t-shirt for $40 each and 100% of sales will go directly to relief efforts in Texas. Many other companies have also followed suit with support for relief efforts.
Many kayak anglers and fishermen from across the country have raised support and are transporting goods like bottled water and clothing to help support their fellow neighbors in Texas. With all of the constant negativity that is blasted all over the media these days, it’s great to see so many coming together to support their fellow American and lend a hand to those in need.
