A camera is pretty important these days for kayak and SUP anglers. With the popularity of social media, we’re always wanting to show off that trophy fish to our friends in Facebook land. Of course, we want quality with our camera without needing to take out a second mortgage. Enter Fuji Film and the FinePix XP50 digital waterproof camera for our Day 12 Review of Christmas.
When choosing a digital camera to take out on the water for my kayak fishing trips, I had several conditions I wanted met before I chose my camera. First, it needed to be waterproof. Yeah that’s a no brainer. I also wanted the ruggedness and durability, and I wanted a camera that took great photos while out on the water. It also had to be able to take the abuse of being outdoors. I also didn’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on the camera. I found every bit of the criteria answered with the FinePix XP50 from Fujifilm.
The Fujifilm FinePix XP50 is a great all around digital waterproof camera that is perfect for the kayak or SUP angler. It features a 14MP camera with 5x zoom, and is as easy as point and click. The rear viewing area is great allowing you to see the picture you just took with great clarity. The camera takes great pictures on the water, capturing those amazing moments holding up a trophy fish. It’s great in the kayak, doesn’t take up a lot of space, and it handles great being wet or muddy. I use the FinePix XP50 camera every time I hit the water. I would suggest adding a Chums waterproof camera float to the camera to help it float if ever dropped in the water.
