Columbia Sportswear is coming out with some brand new fishing pants in January. We had the opportunity recently to test the new Force XII fishing pants, and absolutely loved them.

The apparel I wear on the water are just as important to me as the gear I’m fishing with. Sun protection is a key aspect to what I’m doing while out on the water. That being said, I want some fishing pants that are not only made with quality but can function. While I’m out on the water, I’m all over the place. I’m standing and casting. I’m kneeling to land a fish. I’m sitting down in my chair paddling to my next spot. I’m all over the place and moving around, and I need fishing gear that can move with me.

I was recently sent the new Force XII fishing pants from Columbia Sportswear to test out and review. I opened the box and immediately thought they looked great. I’ve long been a fan of the fishing apparel and PFG gear from Columbia. I know I’m getting quality gear for my on the water adventures. Quality is the key word here folks.

Some of the features that stood out immediately were the articulated knees on the Force XII pants. This told me immediately that I’m have more freedom with being up and down in my kayak. The pliers pocket is a nice feature that is reinforced, and there’s also a D-ring above the pocket which ensures a way to secure my fishing pliers as well.

Another feature that I absolutely loved is Omni-Shield Blood ‘n Guts advanced repellency with the new Force XII pants. This ensures I don’t have to worry about stains from the mud while fishing in Northeast Florida or fish slime from that trophy redfish. I mentioned sun protection earlier, and the Force XII pants feature Columbia’s Omni-Shade UPF 50 protection from the sun. Anyone who’s kayak fished all day while sitting in a kayak without any sun protection can attest to how important this can be.

The pockets on the Force XII fishing pants have hook and loop closure and the back pocket has a security zipper. The color pattern for the new Columbia Force XII fishing pants is a cool grey. The lighter color will help keep you cooler on those hot summer days as well.

They will be available in January 2019, and we’re already itching to add a couple more pairs to our fishing apparel closet.
