I’ve been out of the loop for a few weeks, but it was due to a somewhat hectic end of June and beginning of July. I took a week to travel to Corpus Christi, Texas to attend the 6th Annual Casting for a Cause fishing tournament, and then turned around and flew to Las Vegas to attend the 2013 iCast show. Hectic few weeks, and of course, I had to play catch up upon my return. Texas was a blast, well except for the 2200 miles driven. Casting for a Cause is probably one of, if not the, best tournaments that I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with. The atmosphere is very laid back, and I think that’s due to it being for such great causes. The tournament raises money for Heroes on the Water, the National MS Society, and a few other local charities. Great raffle prizes, drinks, food, and camaraderie make this the premiere tournament. It has more of a friendly get together type of feel to it. I won’t give too many details on the tournament as I’m currently working on a article about the trip for a kayak fishing magazine.
iCast was a blast as well. I mean, what angler (kayak or otherwise) wouldn’t wanna attend THE show to check out all the new toys that’s coming out. That trip didn’t start out as planned as my alarm decided that 430am was just a tad too early to get up to catch a flight. Once a new flight was booked, I was on my way west to Las Vegas. I arrived in Vegas at around 7pm local time, and the heat hit me like a wall. Well over a 100 degrees is a nice “Welcome to Las Vegas”! We headed to our room, where the “boss” had already preplanned and had a 12 pack of Corona in the fridge! We hung out that night, and got ready to get the booth ready for the show. It was a great week and I had a blast catching up with old friends and meeting new friends. More to come!!!
