Memorial Day- Seafood Dip 3 Ways

With Memorial day weekend coming up, lets first not forget what this holiday represents. Memorial Day is a holiday for remembering the people who died while serving in the United States armed forces. Memorial Day is a special day. It is a day of honor and reverence. We must recognize that our beloved country was formed and is protected by the blood of warriors. As unfortunate as this is we can be thankful, because over the years America has answered the call every time our way of life has been threatened.  This Memorial Day, enjoy your three day weekend, enjoy your family and friends, enjoy the beginning of summer! Just make sure to remember and celebrate the lives of all the men and women of our United States armed forces who so heroically lost their lives serving and protecting.

Before you head to the beach and BBQ’s this weekend, check out the great seafood dip recipes below for something that for sure will be a big hit and a crowd favorite. Everyone loves dips!

Smoked Fish Dip

  • 2 cups flaked smoked whitefish


Place whitefish, mayonnaise, and sour cream in the bowl of a food processor. Season with Old Bay (Tm) seasoning, hot pepper sauce, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, and cracked black pepper. Blend all ingredients until consistency reaches a spread.


Baked Crab Dip

Baked Crab Dip


  • 6oz. fresh crabmeat, well drained
  • 1/2 cup diced red pepper/capsicum
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 3 tbsp snipped fresh chives
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4oz. whipped cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce, such as Tabasco
  • 1/4 cup panko (Japanese bread crumbs)
  • 1/2 tsp grated lemon zest


Place the crabmeat in a medium bowl and flake with your fingers. Stir in the bell pepper/capsicum, parsley, and chives. Using a rubber spatula, gently stir in the mayonnaise, cream cheese, lemon juice, and hot sauce. Transfer to a 1-quart shallow baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the panko and lemon zest.

Position a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Just before baking, sprinkle the panko mixture on top and bake until the panko is toasty brown and the dip is bubbling at the edges, about 12 minutes. Serve hot.


Cheesy Shrimp Dip

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 pound medium fresh shrimp, peeled, deveined, and coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 cup sliced green onions
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch cracked black pepper
  • Assorted crackers, for serving


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the red bell pepper and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in the shrimp and green onions and cook until the shrimp are pink and firm, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the sour cream, cheeses, and mayonnaise. Add the salt and pepper, to taste. Spoon the mixture into a 2-quart baking dish. Bake until lightly browned and bubbly, 30 to 35 minutes. Serve with assorted crackers.
