Father’s Day is just around the corner on June 21st. We know how daunting a task it can be to find that perfect gift for the special kayak angler in your life for Father’s Day, but fret not, as we’re here to make your shopping experience a breeze with these great gift ideas for Father’s Day.Father’s Day shopping can be tough, especially when it comes to finding that perfect gift for your dad or husband. Let’s be honest, it really shouldn’t be. We all know very well that anything fishing related is going to put a smile on our face and get us all keyed up like a 6yr old on Christmas morning. Just in case your still having troubles figuring out that perfect gift, here a few ideas to help make Father’s Day that much more special.
Rod and Reel
Any dad would be ecstatic to get a new rod and reel as a Father’s Day gift. Okuma Fishing makes quality rods and reels for every budget. If you’re looking to spend some considerable cheddar, then I suggest checking out the Helios rod and pair it with a Helios reel to make that combo have even more punch. The Helios combo would cost around $320, but it would definitely make a great Father’s Day gift. If you’re looking to spend a little less, then I’d suggest the new Shadow Stalker Gulf Series rods paired with a Ceymar reel. This combo will only set you back about $150, but you’re still getting pops a great rod & reel combo for Father’s Day.
Every kayak angler needs a quality paddle right? Yes, you do, regardless of where you paddle or peddle, a paddle is always needed. So why not hook dad up this Father’s Day with a quality kayak paddle? Even better, why not give dad the top rated paddle of the past 2 years? The Angler Pro from Bending Branches is one of the best paddles on the market and for good reason. It’s pretty light coming in at around 30oz. and it’s sturdy enough to handle anything you can throw out at it. Add in the new RealTree® Max5 camo and you’re sure to have one happy papa on Father’s Day.
Every kayak angler needs something to wear on the water, and it’s up to us to make sure dad’s not out there wearing an old t-shirt and his old school gym shorts out on the yak. Bimini Bay Outfitters has a great range of clothing designed for the angler with comfort and protection in mind that won’t break the wallet wide open. I personally wear the Cabo Crew shirts all the time. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and look great and have a great price tag at only $27.
If you’re looking for some great gift ideas for under $20, then here are a few other suggestions.
One item I never forget on each kayak fishing trip is my trusty Fish Grip. There are 2 sizes: the original Fish Grip and the Fish Grip Jr. Both work extremely well, are lightweight, lip a fish safely, and most importantly, they float! Even better are the prices as the Fish Grip retails for $14.95 and the Fish Grip Jr. retails for $10.99 making them great Father’s Day gifts on a budget.
Probably one of the safest and easiest gifts you can get your dad for Father’s Day are new lures. Yes, it’s a simple gift, but a couple of packs of his favorite lure would go a long ways in his eyes. Most lure packages range in price, but you can mostly find great lures in the range of $5 to $10. One of my favorite companies is Bass Assassin. It doesn’t matter if your dad is a freshwater angler or a saltwater angler, Bass Assassin will have anything he could possibly need to catch his favorite species of fish.
Lastly, the best suggestion that we can offer when it comes to the perfect Father’s Day gift is probably the best gift idea and it won’t cost you a dime. Quite simply, (I can attest to this as a father) just offer to go on a fishing trip together. While all the gifts mentioned above are all great and have a need and purpose, you’ll tug on our heart strings the best by simply asking to go fishing together. Memories made on the water kayak fishing are the ones that we’ll cherish more than catching a trophy fish. So when Father’s Day rolls around, make dad a big breakfast and simply go fishing with him.
Happy Father’s Day!
