The Yak Outlaws staff recently spent a little time in the all new Bonafide Kayaks during the On the Water demo day for the onset of ICAST 2017.Tuesday, July 17th marked the official opening of ICAST 2017 with the On The Water demo day held outside the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The demo day is an opportunity for dealers and media to get a first hand look at new rods, reels, and lures. Of course, we simply wanted the opportunity to get out on the water and test out the new kayak from Bonafide Kayaks.
Our editors, Tony Hart and JD Desrosiers, loaded up into a tan and orange SS-127 kayaks and pushed off from the floating dock to paddle, stand, and check out this new kayak overall. While on the water, JD gives us an in-depth “walk thru” of the all new SS-127 kayak including some amazing new features. The SS-127 features a tray under the seat to store gear and access easily, tracks everywhere, and hatches which open in multiple directions giving the angler easy access regardless of where they are on the kayak. The seat on the new SS-127 is nothing short of amazing. Large and the perfect amount of comfort for an all day kayak fishing experience.
While paddling the SS-127, the angler is given the feel of a much larger kayak than the advertised 12’7″. Tons of room doesn’t even remotely come close to how this kayak feels when sitting in the seat. The seat is comfortable and easy to stand up in, and the stability of the SS-127 is on point. With the final edition of the SS-127, it will hold several 8ft rods inside the hull for easy storage and transportation. The rear tankwell is large enough to easily accommodate a BlackPak or a cooler.
As expected, the new SS-127 from Bonafide Kayaks did not disappoint, as witnessed by the continuous line of folks wanting to test it out. The new SS-127 should be fully available in December, just in time for Christmas, and we’re already making room in the garage for one ourselves.
