With the growing popularity of the event and the short timeframe in which entries sold out last year, 48 hours, registration will be a little different than in the past. Anglers who have participated in five or more Annual YakAttack Tournaments and the winner of each division including the Slam from the 2017 event will get 24 hours early access to purchase their entry before it opens on Feb. 5. The 33 anglers who met the requirements will be contacted directly by YakAttack.

188 anglers participated in the 2017 event. The event will benefit Heroes on the Water and Project Healing Waters. Last year the event raised and donated $20,088.23 for Heroes on the Water and $2,500 for Project Healing Waters. For YakAttack, the main focus of the event is raising funds for the benefiting organizations, enjoying home cooked food, and fellowship with other like-minded kayak anglers. There is no cash payout or prizes won at this event for the fishing results. Prizes like kayaks and coolers are part of the benefit raffle. The unique tournament dynamics make the event low pressure with anglers only fishing for bragging rights and a trophy.
